How to deal with online chatting addiction?

My friend (58yo) is addicted to online chatting. We caught him many times. And was not a normal chatting (Involving sex). Anybody please tell me seriously how to tell him that is wasting time and dangerous.
One time he sent money to stranger across USA and found out this guy was a bogus.
I really do care about him. He said he just did this for fantasy.
Please help me????

Eh, I’m addicted to online chatting. but my chatting does not involve sex…and I’m almost all the time just chatting with friends – that way I don’t feel lonely when I can’t see them (Just graduated from HS)…
Online chatting is very addictive… i found out what IRC was three years ago and have not been able to quit despite my many attempts.

Smash his computer and tell him that you accidentally tripped and broke it… or… fake a robbery scene in his house, take away a few thing and his computer.
… or…
Don’t just tell his it’s bad to addict to online chatting, show him some example that online chatting is dangerous.
… or …
show him some significant negative changes in his life that is because of online chatting addiction.

You really need to look out and be careful the reason it is so addicting is because you haven’t learned the real responsibility of life and when you do you will learn their is to much to do than sit around a computer all day and talk to strangers. Good luck tho I wish you the best.
