Got this webcam in the mail today, cannot install it. Windows reports “USB device not recognized”, tried to run the installer but it tells me to connect the webcam, which is already plugged in. Unplugged the camera, ran the installer and plugged in the camera when told to do so, but doesn’t work. Tried to manually install the driver through the device manager, no success.
In general the product seems to be a bit dated. Requirements on the box states: Pentium 200MHz, 64Mb RAM.. Found some threads on the net reporting issues when running on a USB 2.0 port, I’m not buying a separate USB 1.0 card to run this..

Works with Skype, easy to set up despite the poorly translated user’s manual (i.e., “Please avoid to let this product drop,” “Don’t use this product when ambience is too hot”). As the title indicates, the LED lights are blinding and wash your image out, but this was solved by placing two sticky notes over the lights. My bf complained that you couldn’t place the camera on top of the screen, so I was always looking to the side a little, but you can decide whether you care about that.

Bought this for my parents to use on their computer so we could use skype. I was worried it would be a complicated installation or it wouldn’t work with Skype, which some reviewers complained about for other products. It works surprisingly well and I was even able to talk my mom through the steps I guessed she needed to do (plug in the USB port, answer the call on skype, turn on video option) and it worked! The video isn’t super high quality on the Skype screen but it’s functional. Also, the led lights have sensors on them and turn on when the light’s low, but they’re not super sensitive so will often turn off when not needed and you end up w/a washed out image. The sound quality is not bad as well. i was worried we’d end up w/some echo. It only happened once, for a couple seconds and the microphone picks up sound pretty well. Overall, surprisingly good for the price and easy to use, truly plug & play.
